Admissions

“I thought I knew about Montessori, but was even more impressed after visiting the school and meeting you.”

-Prospective Parent

Nikki Creasman, Director of Admissions & Marketing

Thank you for your interest in Pioneer Montessori School!

This is a truly special place and community and I am so glad that you have found us. The Wood River Valley is lucky to have an authentic Montessori school in Ketchum and I am excited to show it off. The rich history of the school, dating back to 1981, combined with the dedication, expertise and experience of our staff make Pioneer Montessori a school that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

I believe that you have to see the school in person in order to truly understand the magic that happens in these classrooms! Whether your child is a brand new infant, a busy toddler trying to figure out the world, or already in a school but you want to know what else is out there, please reach out to me with any questions and/or easily schedule a tour/conversation with me. I look forward to meeting with you and helping to determine if Pioneer Montessori School is the right fit for you and your family!

Warmly,

Nikki | nikki@pioneermontessorischool.org

How to Apply

1) Schedule a Tour/Admissions Meeting

  • Please click here to sign up for a tour and/or schedule a conversation with Nikki Creasman, Director of Admissions.

  • School tours are scheduled for weekday mornings when school is in session. This gives prospective families a chance to see the uninterrupted morning work cycle: a hallmark of Montessori education. Your visit will start with a brief meeting with Nikki, Director of Admissions and Marketing, a tour of the whole school, followed by a chance to sit and observe a class at work. Before you leave, you will have another opportunity to meet with Nikki to ask any questions you may have.

  • These initial visits are most successful if they can be adults only, please let me know if that is not an option for you, nikki@pioneermontessorischool.org.

  • Although an in-person meeting is most ideal, if you are unable to make that work, please let me know so we can schedule a virtual meeting instead.

2) Submit an Application

  • After your tour and Admissions meeting, if you are interested in applying to Pioneer Montessori School, you will be sent a link to fill out an application. Paper applications are also available in the school Administrative Office. A $50.00 processing fee is due upon submission.

  • Although the majority of our new students start in the fall, Pioneer Montessori School has a rolling admission policy, which means that we accept applications for admissions throughout the year. For fall enrollment and/or from a waitlist position, open spots are typically identified in March after our current families have re-enrolled for the next school year. The number of spots available varies each year by program based on attrition. The school will contact you to move forward with the admission process if an applicable spot is available. Otherwise, your application will remain in our waiting list.

3) Student Visit

  • If you are applying for the Pre-Primary (toddler) Program, a classroom visit and home visit will be schedule with the lead teacher shortly before the student’s first day.

  • If you are applying for Primary or Elementary (ages 3 through 12) we will schedule a student visit.

    • For Primary age, the visit will be approximately 30 minutes after school. Your child will have a chance to see the classroom and interact with one or both of our Primary Lead Guides.

      • The guide is looking for signs that your child is developmentally ready to learn. Does your child separate easily from you? ...follow simple directions? ...express needs and feelings easily? ...possess the self-control to wait his/her turn?

    • For Elementary age, there will be a few visits. First, the family will be invited to an after-school visit similar to the Primary visit listed above. After that, the student will be invited to spend one or two days visiting. They will be fully immersed into the class.

      • The guides will assess how well they are suited for learning in a Montessori environment through observation during the visit.

4) Secure Your Child’s Enrollment

If your child is accepted, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure their enrollment.
